Johner Estate is pleased to announce that wines of Karl H Johner Germany are now available online and from our cellar door in New Zealand.
In 1985, after being ten years abroad Karl Heinz Johner and his wife Irene founded a little Weingut (vineyard & winery) in their home village “Bischoffingen” in the Kaiserstuhl, near the Alsatian border of Germany.
Karl’s focus was set on the Burgundy-wine style, full of structure and pure elegance. Despite having to overcome problems relating to winemaking in the Kaiserstuhl and German wine laws ,the young Weingut soon established itself as a pioneer of a new German wine style – recognised as being of an international class. Today “Weingut Karl H. Johner” is considered to be one of the best estates in Germany and is well-known amongst most wine experts.
