Silver 4 star ribbon Bob Campbell MW The Real Review

“Moderately intense, ripe pinot noir with a firm structure of raw tannins that should mellow with bottle age. Cherry, plum and raspberry flavours with a suggestion of floral and savoury dried herb flavours. Impressive concentration although slightly over-extracted at this stage” 18 Jun 2023 Bob Campbell

Michael Cooper MA ONZM 5 star rating

“Still fairly youthful, the 2019 vintage (*****) was hand-picked from six-year-old vines, grown in clay over limestone soils, at a site east of Masterton, and matured for a year in French oak barrels (20 per cent new).  Deep ruby, it is a complex, savoury, richly varietal red, with good tannin backbone and deep cherry, plum, herb and spice flavours, showing excellent complexity and harmony.  Best drinking 2026+. Offers top value” 4 Dec 2024 Michael Cooper

Description

This Silver Medal winning Pinot Noir is from our Lime Hill Vineyard which is on the outskirts of Masterton, set on 1.3 Ha on a gently sloping hill with a thin layer of clay on limestone.  This terroir produces a Burgundian style Pinot Noir from vines established in 2013.

A nose of dark red, ripe berryfruit medley with the barest hint of French Oak vanilla bean.  The mouth feel is of a rich intense mid-palate with well balanced acidity and tannins.

Incredible value and the potential of cellaring for another 8 years.
